What is direct primary care and how is it different from a regular doctor’s office?
Direct primary care (DPC) is a membership model where you pay a flat monthly fee for ongoing primary care
instead of billing each visit through insurance. At Thryv Health DPC your membership includes office visits,
virtual visits, and ongoing support for most primary care needs without surprise bills.
What does the monthly membership fee include?
Your membership covers comprehensive primary care with your physician, including chronic disease management,
acute visits, preventive care, telehealth when appropriate, care coordination, and access to discounted labs
and imaging when available. There are no visit copays inside the membership.
Can I use Thryv Health DPC without a long-term commitment?
Yes. Memberships are month-to-month with a simple notice period if you need to pause or cancel. We will help
you transition your records if you move or your situation changes.
How do I reach my doctor if I have a question between visits?
Members have direct access to the practice through secure messaging, phone, and virtual visits. Many issues
can be handled the same day with a message or telehealth appointment, saving you a trip to urgent care.
What if I need urgent or emergency care?
For emergencies such as chest pain, severe shortness of breath, or signs of stroke you should call 911 or go
to the nearest emergency room. For many urgent issues we encourage you to contact Thryv Health DPC first so
we can help decide the safest and most cost-effective next step.
How does Thryv Health DPC work as an employee benefit?
Employers can sponsor memberships for their team at a predictable monthly rate per employee. Thryv Health DPC
becomes the first stop for primary care while your health plan or cost-sharing arrangement covers major
medical events.
Can we pair Thryv Health DPC with a high-deductible plan or cost-sharing program?
Yes. Many employers combine DPC with a high-deductible health plan or medical cost-sharing program. Day-to-day
primary care is handled through Thryv Health DPC, while larger expenses continue to flow through your existing
coverage.
Do you bill insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid for visits?
Thryv Health DPC does not bill insurance for services that are included in your membership. This keeps visit
costs transparent and avoids the overhead of traditional fee-for-service billing. You may still use insurance
for medications, imaging, labs, or referrals outside the membership when applicable.
Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay for membership?
Some members are able to use HSA or FSA funds to pay for direct primary care, depending on how their account
is administered and current IRS guidance. We recommend checking with your tax advisor or benefits
administrator for the most up-to-date rules for your situation.
